Fabricated Well-being:

Technical Developments.

Reading Graham Pullin's book Design Meets Disability, inspired me to start exploring visual design avenues. In an interesting chapter, Pullin's discusses the creative possibilities of combining braille with graphic design; Although - in terms of function - these are at seemingly opposite ends of the spectrum, Pullin's argues that if designers began to combine the two it could produce products that are both tangible and graphically interesting.

Sketchbook page - Positive messages in braille.

I am starting to bring this idea into my practices, beading inspirational braille messages into my knit designs to act as a 'grounding aid' for overwhelming situations or simply as a reminder to try and look on the bright side of life.
