Fabricated Well-being:
Technical development.

From autism to insomnia, weighted blankets have shown to have therapeutic qualities for a wide range of conditions due to the 'deep touch' pressure stimulation that is shown to reduce cortisol levels and increase serotonin levels. I have been exploring how this property could be applied to knitted structures, so far i have looked at tubular structures on the Dubied knitting machines. Although this method has been successful, due to the mechanics of the Dubied machines, I am limited to the shapes and graphics that I can produce. As the project develops I plan to develop this technique further on the Shima Seiki machines to broaden the graphic design possibilities.
